GetWellNetwork and ViiMed® Introduce Asynchronous Video Integration in Cross-Continuum Patient Engagement Platform
Combination of Technologies Saves Time and Improves Care Coordination Through Patient-Provider Video Collaboration
Bethesda, Md., Apr. 9, 2015 (HIMSS Booth #6627) – GetWellNetwork®, Inc., the leader in Interactive Patient Care™ (IPC) solutions, and ViiMed®, the leading provider of workflow-enabled “asynchronous” telehealth, today announced the integration of ViiMed’s technology into GetWellNetwork’s cross-continuum patient engagement platform. At the HIMSS15 Annual Conference & Exhibition in Chicago, Ill., April 12-16, the companies will debut how their combined technologies enhance pre-operative patient education as well as at-home, post-operative physician follow-up via video.
The integration is the latest result of GetWell Labs, a research and development incubator for disruptive patient and family engagement technologies. Using a PC or mobile device, patients can view, complete and record physician-prescribed care plans and activities. ViiMed routes completed activities to care team providers, who then review the recorded activity and respond at their convenience. ViiMed’s asynchronous, bi-directional communication and coordination help minimize missed appointments, uneventful visits, procedure cancellations and unnecessary readmissions.
“The ability to capture patient response data for feedback and follow-up is a critical next step for improving operational efficiencies, health outcomes and care delivery,” explained GetWellNetwork Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer David Bennett. “ViiMed will further enhance our cross-continuum platform in inpatient and outpatient care settings, as well as the patient’s home to help facilitate recovery through patient-physician collaboration.”
ViiMed technology has initially been integrated with the GetWellNetwork platform to help orthopedic providers deliver rehabilitative instructions and follow-up care via video, and assess patients’ range-of-motion responses.
“Our clients are able to manage and communicate with large patient populations while still delivering individualized care plans necessary for changing behavior, improving outcomes and supporting transitions of care,” said Phil Newman, CEO of ViiMed. “We are excited to work with GetWellNetwork and incorporate asynchronous video collaboration into their innovative patient- and family-centered model of care.”
