Hospital leaders extend GetWellNetwork system across multiple care settings to improve patient engagement

BETHESDA, MD – February 16, 2012 – GetWellNetwork, Inc.®, provider of the industry's leading interactive patient care (IPC) solution, announced today the GetWellNetwork patient experience will now be available on the Apple® iPad. The initial version of this industry-first tablet solution is being demonstrated at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) annual conference, Feb. 21 – 24, 2012, Las Vegas, in booth 7910.

“Patients and providers are always on the run so using iPads will allow these interventions to occur at the bedside, in clinics, waiting rooms, anywhere,” said Meghan Kelly, MSEd, CCLS, Montefiore Medical Center. “GetWellNetwork continues to lead the way, and has become our true partner for patient engagement innovation.”

“Children's of Alabama is pleased to partner with GetWellNetwork using iPads to provide access to the comprehensive library of KidsHealth® education videos previously available only to hospitalized patients,” said Marilyn Prier, MPH, RN, director, Comprehensive Health Education for Kids, Children’s of Alabama. “This innovative strategy will allow us to provide the educational videos to patients in all areas of our hospital, including the specialty clinics and emergency room.”

The new GetWellNetwork iPad solution is the first application of its kind available for the interactive patient care market and provides healthcare providers with the resources to deliver the best in personalized education and care for patients in every patient treatment setting throughout the facility. Caregivers have access to key clinical tools that allow them to engage patients throughout the care continuum in non-traditional IPC settings such as outpatient areas, neonatal intensive care units, and the emergency department. Patients and families also have a more convenient and familiar way to stay informed about their condition and involved in hospital safety and satisfaction initiatives.

“Our growing hospital community is encouraging us to take bold steps to further patient engagement as a core strategy for performance improvement and health transformation. We are committed to helping hospitals support their patient populations in managing their health across the continuum of care through the use of multiple devices that enable patients to access the information they need, regardless of where they are,” said Michael O’Neil, president, GetWellNetwork. “The availability of our solution on the iPad is an exciting component of our larger strategy to engage patients at critical care points and to encourage their participation in their own health by providing ubiquitous access to patient engagement tools. The best is ahead.”

In addition to providing vast benefits to patients and caregivers, the GetWellNetwork iPad solution also benefits administrators, giving them access to the GetWellNetwork Executive Dashboard through the GetWellNetwork Management Console. With mobile device in hand, they can have immediate access to patient data in key satisfaction, quality and operational areas with the most up-to-the-minute actionable, information helping to drive better outcomes.
